Lord Vishnu is one of the most important deities in Hinduism, considered the preserver of the universe.  He is said to have taken many avatars or incarnations to save the world and its people from harm.
One of the most famous stories about Lord Vishnu is the story of his incarnation as Lord Krishna.  According to legend, Lord Krishna was born as the eighth child of Devaki and her husband Vasudev.  However, Kansa, Devaki’s evil brother, had received a prophecy that his eighth child would be the one to kill him.
To save him from the wrath of Kamsa, Vasudeva took the newborn Lord Krishna across the river Yamuna to the city of Gokul, where he was raised by cowherd Nanda and his wife Yashoda.  There, he grew up as a mischievous boy, famous for stealing butter and playing pranks with the villagers.
As he grew into a young man, Lord Krishna became a great warrior and helped the Pandavas win the Battle of Kurukshetra in the epic Mahabharata.  He is also famous for giving the holy Bhagavad Gita, which contains the teachings of Hinduism.
Overall, the story of Lord Vishnu and his incarnation as Lord Krishna is a tale of love, devotion and heroism, and continues to inspire Hindus around the world.
